White-legged shrimp is a type of aquatic product that is widely raised in our country’s provinces and brings high economic profits. However, due to the epidemic situation, many white shrimp died, affecting the farming productivity of farmers.

Next, let’s continue with OIC NEW to learn about 8 common white leg shrimp diseases (Last part) and how to prevent them.
Intestinal disease in white shrimp
Cause of the disease: Intestinal disease appears not only on black tiger shrimp but also on white shrimp. This disease is caused by many different causes:
– The amount of food is not guaranteed in terms of quality, contains many impurities that create the foundation for disease development,…
– The pond water environment is polluted. Creates conditions for Vibrio bacteria to thrive.
– Toxic algae grow a lot in ponds.
Shrimp intestinal tract suffers from white feces disease.
Symptoms of the disease:
– Shrimp stop eating or eat less, swim lethargically, causing shrimp to grow slowly and have weak health.
– Because the intestinal tract is dilute, the shrimp cannot absorb food. Therefore, the intestinal tract becomes necrotic.
– The shrimp’s intestines are broken into segments or food cannot be seen in the shrimp intestines, the intestines are curved, and the color is pale.
How to prevent intestinal diseases: People need to take general preventive measures from properly treating the water environment, improving the quality of food sources for shrimp, treating toxic algae in ponds, etc. Besides, farmers should use the product Nano Milk Thistle (Purple Shrimp) which is effective in supporting the prevention of liver and pancreatic diseases in shrimp with the following main uses:
- Improves resistance for shrimp and fish due to changes in temperature and pH of the environment.
- Supports the prevention of white feces disease in shrimp.
- Supports the prevention of liver and pancreatic diseases in shrimp and fish.
- Enhance liver and pancreas function in shrimp and fish.
- Enhance immune system function in shrimp and fish.
- Supports liver and pancreas detoxification.
- Supports the prevention of liver swelling (hepatic necrosis).
How to use:
- 2-3m/kg of food when preventing disease
- Feed for 7-10 days continuously and repeat after 3-4 days
- 5-7ml/kg of food during epidemics
- Feed for 7-12 days continuously and repeat after 1-2 days
Yellow head disease (YHV)
Cause of the disease: Yellowhead disease is caused by the Yellowhead Virus complex. The two types of Viruses have English names: Yellow Head Virus (YHV) and Virus causing associated syndromes (Gill – Associated Virus – GAV). Currently, according to records, YHV exists in 6 different genotypes.
Yellow head disease is caused by the yellow head disease virus complex.
Symptoms of the disease: Once whiteleg shrimp is infected, there will be symptoms such as yellow or brown in the gills. The yellow color appears most on the nipple, the whole body will be pale. Because the digestive gland is swollen, the head will be yellow.
How to prevent yellow head disease: Breeds should be selected and tested before stocking, paying attention to water quality and the surrounding environment. In addition, farmers should use the product Nano Carvacrol (Blue Shrimp) to help effectively prevent yellow head disease in shrimp, with the following main uses:
+ Supports effective prevention of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV).
+ Supports effective prevention of intestinal emptying and falling bottom disease (Decapod Iridescent Virus 1 (DIV1)).
+ Supports effective prevention of yellow head disease (YHV).
+ Supports effective prevention of Gill-associated Virus (GAV) syndrome
+ Improves resistance for Shrimp and Fish due to changes in temperature and pH of the environment.
+Enhance immune system function in Shrimp and Fish.
+ Supports liver and pancreas detoxification.
How to use:
+ 0.2-0.3 ml/kg of food when preventing disease
+ Feed continuously for 7-10 days and repeat after 2-3 days
+ 0.4-0.5 ml/kg of food during epidemics
+ Feed for 7-12 days continuously and repeat after 1-2 days
Note: Do not exceed the allowed dosage
Shrimp white feces disease (WFD/WFS)
Cause of the disease: Among the 8 most common white leg shrimp diseases, white feces disease cannot be ignored. Currently, people cannot determine the cause of the disease. However, according to many studies, they can be caused by a group of bacteria called Vibrio, two-celled parasites or a group of Vermiform parasites.
Symptoms of the disease: Signs of white feces disease are very easy to recognize, which is that the shrimp feces fibers will be light yellow in color. The liver and pancreas are shrunken or soft, the shell is thin, soft and loose. Shrimp become increasingly weak, swim sluggishly and die.
How to prevent white feces disease: Farmers should reduce shrimp farming density during the hot season. Aims to reduce the amount of organic microorganisms on the bottom of the pond. From there, reducing the growth of Vibrio bacteria. In addition, people should use the product Nano Milk Thistle (Purple Shrimp) to limit the growth of Vibrio bacteria group, effectively preventing white feces disease in shrimp.
Black spot disease (NHPB)
Cause of the disease: Caused by NHPB bacteria (Necrotizing Hepatopancreatitis Bacterium). The disease is also known as hepatopancreatic necrosis disease caused by bacteria. However, the bacteria are completely different from EMS/AHPNS acute hepatopancreatic necrosis.
White leg shrimp suffers from black spot disease.
Symptoms of the disease: White leg shrimp when sick will be easy to detect by small black spots or large patches. Dark or black in color, tail is thinned. Some secondary injuries may appear such as: worn tail, missing antennae, beard scales.
How to prevent black spot disease: Do the same as measures to prevent diseases caused by bacteria. It is necessary to kill anaerobic bacteria when renovating ponds, and evaluate bacterial bile by using TCBS agar plates (MP – BIOTEST). Check the quality of shrimp seeds using PCR technique.
In addition, people should supplement the product Nano Eugenol (Silver Shrimp) with 100% ingredients from natural medicinal herbs that are safe and very effective in preventing black spot disease and helping to increase survival rate during the shrimp nursery period.
+ Supports immune enhancement for Shrimp from 4 days old to 35 days old.
+ Supports prevention of hepatopancreatic disease, white spot disease, yellow head disease, black spot disease, intestinal emptying disease, bottom drop, anorexia disease, stress due to transportation
+ Helps shrimp peel simultaneously, harden their shells quickly, and eat well again after molting
+ Supplementing essential nutrients for the postlarvae stage of shrimp
+ Increase survival rate during shrimp nursery period.
How to use:
+ 2-3ml/kg of food when preventing disease
+ Feed continuously for 7-10 days and repeat after 2-3 days
+ 5-7ml/kg of food during epidemics
+ Feed for 7-12 days continuously and repeat after 1-2 days
